Micro-grants – Local Power to Act
Micro-grants are our way of letting good ideas change reality here and now. Through them, volunteers of the Attention, Garbage Truck is Coming! Foundation carry out their own local projects – bold, creative, and close to our mission.
Our volunteers are active across Poland. They are attentive, aware, and full of passion, and it is they who know best what their communities need. That’s why we support them by providing funding for initiatives that inspire others and bring about real change.
We continuously work to raise funds from various sources so we can channel them into the most compelling ideas submitted by our volunteers. In this way, we’re building a network of grassroots action together, one that shows everyone can make a difference in their surroundings.
Below are examples of projects already completed thanks to micro-grants.
Better Future
Our community operates not only online but, above all, locally. Thanks to our partnership with Better Future Foundation, we launched a micro-grants program that allows administrators of local “Uwaga, Śmieciarka Jedzie” groups to carry out their own initiatives for the benefit of their neighbors and local communities.
The program provides financial and substantive support for projects based on the idea of zero waste and the circular economy. Through it, we see the creation of repair workshops, educational campaigns, community-building events, and other activities that respond to local needs.
Thanks to these initiatives, we not only give objects a second life, but also build neighborly bonds, promote responsible consumption, and show that real change starts right where we live – in our neighborhoods, streets, and courtyards.
Solidarity Corpus
Thanks to the support of the National Freedom Institute – Centre for Civil Society Development, under the Solidarity Corps program – the Government Programme for Supporting and Developing Long-Term Volunteering for 2018–2030, administrators of local “Attention, garbage truck is coming” groups carried out numerous local initiatives for the benefit of their communities.
The micro-grants made it possible to run projects promoting the idea of zero waste, the reuse of items, proper waste segregation, and civic activity and volunteering. Each initiative responded to the needs of the local community and was prepared by people who know their surroundings best.
Through these activities, we strengthened local communities, promoted responsible consumption, and showed that caring for the environment can go hand in hand with building relationships, cooperation, and resident engagement.
