One of our volunteers organized an incredible event promoting the circular economy at their university!
It all happened at the connector between the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Management and the Faculty of Social Sciences, as part of a micro-grant funded by the Better Future Foundation. On April 13 and 14, drop-off points were set up where students and staff could hand in items that had been sitting around in their rooms ahead of time. On April 15 came the big swap finale: the collected items were laid out on tables, and participants could trade for what they needed or take from a designated free area. All in the spirit of zero waste!
Over time, everything shifted to a “take it, no swap needed” basis, and word of the free treasures spread to our local Attention, Garbage Truck is Coming! group too. Students, staff from both faculties, and outside visitors all took part. The result? Very few items were left, and most found a second life!
